The Transparent Factory of Volkswagen, was built in 2001 to introduce the world to something unique: an opportunity to experience Volkswagen manufacturing up close. Volkswagen combined the construction of “Die Gläserne Manufaktur” with the idea behind its new premium class vehicle – associating innovative car making with the values passed on by more traditional plants and communicating this clearly to the world in the building’s open and transparent architecture.
